My time at Kwazulu-Natal and Johannesburg

Less than 1 minute Reading time: About Minutes

My time at Durban, Kwazulu-Natal

We arrived King Shaka International airport Durban at 16:20pm and were welcomed by our tour guide. We headed to our hotel, on our way we were given a brief talk on Durban and its culture, we were told why the airport has been relocated to the current location and many more histories of Durban. At the hotel, many things happened which I would like to share a few with you. Every switch at the hotel has to do with your room card/key. Right from the lift to switching on the lightning system in your room. We had many cases where it took myself for about 15-20 mins to put on the lightnings in my room. It’s very sad though but laughable.

The next day we had our breakfast as usual then proceeded to the Shakaland village. What a lovely place to be. We were welcomed with open arms, given a welcome drink in a small mug, and then taken round the village with their history, and also we were entertained with nice music and dance. What I will not forget in the history is that, Men first. Men are given the priority than women and men can marry as many as they can if only they can afford to pay the bride price of 11 cows each. We had our lunch, took some pictures and then we went back to Durban for dinner on a floating restaurant.

The third day we had breakfast at the hotel, went to the beach for a nice time, en-route to the beach, we had a dancing section which sought many of dancing to the tune of some SA, Ghanaian and Nigerian songs after which after, we had our lunch then went for shopping. And our dinner was taken at Moyo’s restaurant.

On the fourth day we had breakfast at the hotel and departed to the airport for Johannesburg.

Time in Johannesburg

We arrived O. R. Tambo International airport at 12:35pm and we were welcomed once again by our tour guide, at this point, we were given some souvenirs by the hosting tour guide.

We headed to Mandel’s home on Vilakazi Street where we were given a brief history of Johannesburg. When we got to Soweto, we had our launch at Vilakazi Street after which we were taken round Mandela’s house. After our tour we moved to our hotel checked in, then had our dinner at Mandela’s square and night life at Jozi, where my Ghanaian colleagues can’t afford to leave the nightclub without dancing to one corner song by Patapeezy.

The next day we had breakfast, took pictures at Mandela’s square and went for shopping after which we had our dinner at Shisanyama. The following day we packed our bags, ate breakfast bid ourselves goodbye which was not easy though as some of us had started missing ourselves, SA and the people of SA but we had to and departed to the airport for Lagos.

It was a lovely and would love to go back surely.

The moment of all my SA trip that suprised me most is in the picture below. Kwesi Phils, thanks for the effort and love. I love this moment so much!!!!!!

I would like to recommend that apart from other destination like Dubai, U.K, U.S.A, South Africa is also a good place to visit with so many tourist attractions included.
